The C shunter is the big brother of the axled shunter range. Intended for shunting services in marshalling yards or railway stations, where the grip of the B range is not sufficient. Equipped with the same diesel-electric transmission, the shunter C with its three mechanically linked axles has an exceptional tractive effort without passing over bogies even on degraded tracks or poorly adherent rails.
Presentation
The new generation of CFD 3-axled shunter is a compact machine with a modern cab that combines visibility and comfort. The mechanically welded chassis is a robust model, ideal for intensive but durable use. Like the B model, the driver's cab has a central console with an operator's station on both sides of the vehicle, allowing traction in both directions. The diesel engine is not the only one present, 100% battery solutions, diesel-battery hybrids or dual-mode diesel + catenary power collection are possible.
With its length of less than 9m, it can be used everywhere. Available in versions from 15 to 22 t per axle, it adapts to all types of tracks (metric or normal) even lightly reinforced. Its electric transmission enables it to tow up to 2500 t or more freight wagons in level track without any difficulty.
DIesel engine
The C DE Shunter is equipped with either a CATERPILLAR or VOLVO diesel engine (other engine manufacturers on request), meeting current environmental standards. A Start and Stop system allows the diesel engine to be stopped during long periods of idling and restarted automatically according to the pressure in the compressed air tanks. This solution limits fuel consumption and extends the maintenance intervals.
Traction system
Like the shunter B DE, the three-axle version C DE is available with two different drive powertrains to meet all customer requirements. Both drive chains are integrated into the same interfaces, which reduces design costs and shortens production times. All that remains to be done is to choose the type of transmission when ordering: the choice is between the robustness and simplicity of the DC transmission with the CFD D33 dual motor or the efficiency and control flexibility of the permanent magnet solution.

AC/DC drive
The DC drive train is based on the robust CFD D33 DC drive motor between the two axles. This simple solution allows exceptional take-off forces. The simplicity of the components, their robustness and ease of maintenance make this solution ideal for operations in harsh environments or isolated areas.
PM Traction
The drive train, equipped with 2 to 4 motors and a permanent magnet generator, is built around a DC bus. This solution is characterised by the use of power electronics components with a remarkable compactness thanks to liquid cooling.
The exceptional efficiency of the components and the absence of heavy maintenance significantly reduces operating costs.
Driver's cab
The cab is air-conditioned and has an optional heating system that runs even with the diesel engine switched off thanks to a diesel boiler connected to the fuel tank. This boiler is also used to warm up the diesel engine before starting in cold weather or to keep the engine warm when using the Start and Stop.
