Since the end of steam locomotives, CFD has been working to offer its own thermal engines. Technological evolution has allowed CFD to first put into service Asynchro sequential transmission locomotives with a power of 600 to 3,000 horsepower with unequalled net rail performance.
Then the hydraulic transmission allowed the construction of powerful but simpler and more robust machines. As CFD's desire is always to offer the best solutions to the railway world, the new CFD diesel locomotive range uses electric transmission for high power but also innovative designs such as the TRIAX locomotive series with three driving axles and its articulated bogie that is less aggressive for the rails.
Available with diesel, gas or hybrid engines, in standard or narrow gauge, and in different electric traction technologies (DC or permanent magnet traction motors), this new range stands out for its ease of maintenance and robustness.
The modular design of CFD rolling stock allows our machines to be upgraded quickly and simply without chassis modifications, according to our customers' requirements and the specificities of their rail network (axle load, diesel engine power, type of generator, electrical energy storage systems with on-board or catenary recharging, pantograph for operation on electrified tracks, adaptation of compressed air production, addition of dynamic braking, type of buffers or couplings, size of the driver's cab, rail signalling systems, etc.).
