A half-hydraulic, half-mechanical transmission
The originality of this locomotive was the presence of a converter between the diesel and the Asynchro gearbox, whereas on all other machines equipped with this type of gearbox a coupler was available. This allowed the use of a gearbox with only 4 gears, the first gear going up to 19 km/h in converter mode and up to 26 km/h in lock-up mode with which the converter was equipped.
